Tahini or tahini (in Arabic, طحينية; in Hebrew, טחינה; in Turkish, tahin) is a paste made from seeds of sesame seed also called ground that intervenes as an ingredient in several Middle East dishes.
Employment
It is an essential ingredient of the hummus (chick pea DIP) and the babaganuch (Eggplant purée). You can take also dipped in bread and seasoned, and often diluted in lemon juice and water, with added optional garlic to form a sauce that accompanies various dishes, such as skewers of meat (the so-called kebabs), roast (shawarma), croquettes of chickpeas or beans (falafel), salads, etc.
In Turkey, tahini mixed with pekmez (something like syrup or syrup) is commonly consumed as breakfast in winter.
It is the main ingredient in Mediterranean and Balkan type of halva.
